Album Review- Stephen Sanchez: Eyes On My Eyes

Stephen Sanchez has really made a name for himself since his hit single “Lady by the Sea” and has now moved onto his second album “Easy on my Eyes”. This album strays away from his usual style and I think it makes for a nice listen. Sanchez’s music is usually mellow or up beat, and with this new album that’s no different; the only thing that’s different is him deciding on leaning into folk music.

I would say some stand out songs in the album are the songs “Hey Girl”, and “Because of You”. “Hey Girl” has such a nice happy guitar in it that will make you fall in love with that special someone again. It’s definitely a song to listen to when you want to feel in love. On the other hand “Because of You” has a somber and almost ballroom-like piano in the background, giving it a sense of a more intimate relationship. Both of these songs give a unique take on different levels of a relationship. With “Hey Girl” being the more flirty song, and “Because of You” feeling deeper.

Another stand out song is “Until I Found You” which was released as a single, and is one of his most listened to songs, especially after a sound bite of his songs went viral on Tiktok.

This album is a great listen if you just want to put on some music in the background while you do homework or read a book. It has this warmth to it that I think can be found with a lot of folk albums, and I can’t wait to see what Sanchez comes up with next.
