Changing the scene quite a bit, $uicideboy$ has been busy cooking up new material, and we are blessed to receive 3 tracks from the upcoming album, Long Term Effects of SUFFERING (Out 13Aug21, A.K.A. TOMORROW!) : “Avalon”, “NEW PROFILE PIC”, and “Materialism as a Means to an End”.

”Avalon” has got a nice beat, $crim produced it again this time, and it sounds much cleaner than a lot of his earlier works, coming back to the duo’s project very strong off his solo project. He also has cleaner bars than the last project, STOP STARING AT THE SHADOWS, which I thought he was kind of weak on. Lines 5-12 of his verse were the best parts¹. Ruby, as always, rippin’ it up. Lines like “Tryna save me, it's all because I suck her titties like a baby”, “Knock the piss out a pussy boy, trust”.

”NEW PROFILE PIC” was the first single from the upcoming album to drop, and I think overall is a slightly weaker song than “Avalon” was. They used a sample of Ruby’s verse from “$outh $ide $uicide”, a choice I disliked at first (I see “$$$” as more or less a personal failure, despite it’s commercial success) but it grew on me. Ruby also comes in very strong on this track, full of swagger, and also throws in some funny lines (“yo momma made change, didn’t know she also made chumps”).

”Materialism as a Means to an End” returns to some of their older sounds, albeit with better quality and production. The beat bumps hard, heavy bass in it, Ruby and Scrim both absolutely murder their verses, I think this is the best single of the three so far, and this track alone has generated 90% of my hype. This song is the first in a while that’s had a chorus, but it slaps hard.

For some reason, I really love it in songs when rappers spell things out, like in this one where Scrim spits:

”K-I- double L-E-R
So many bodies, made a hobby out the ER”

Fire.

Some lyrics that I kind of relate to personally are things like when Ruby says:

“…buyin' time til' the grave
Time flyin' every day, sign my name
I'm confined to the page until a spine and a stain is the only thing remaining”

”Vision always blurry and my memory hazy”

”Fuck I look like? Think I trust boys, yeah
Full of hate, I'ma kill joy”

Overall, very excited for the album, very good singles.
