Quick Quips 2

This Quick Quips is brought to you by the Hip-Hop/Rap/Tirade/Etc. genres, in all their glory.

Second to bat is Bus Driver’s Temporary Forever, an old school hip-hop album that twists tongues with somewhat twitchy, somehow tricky wordplay that runs your head in loops. That is before you even get a chance to begin to hear his messages about society and bureaucracy. This guy is eccentric, and as good as his lyricism is, it sometimes nears Yung Lean levels of near incompetency, but it’s all held very loosely together by the phantasmal paintings he creates with quirky and zany intonations and word choice. This kind of also gives the album kind of a child-like, mischievous vibe to it, but also able to be somewhat serious in topics touched on.

Definitely recommended, a timeless classic. Granted, phoon might have influenced a bit of nostalgia (Speaking of nostalgia, the track “Imaginary Places” was also featured on Tony Hawk’s Underground, an old Playstation 2 game. Many people would probably also recognize it from there, and it’s a cool bit of skater specific trivia for you. ) which could serve as a bias (though, perhaps it’s inclusion in the phoon video adds credibility to the claims of speed and mischievousness), but undoubtedly this is one MC that has been a bit slept on.

A few tracks I recommend off the record are “Imaginary Places”, “Along Came a Biter”, “Idle Chatter”, “Mindcrossings”, and “Single Cell Ego”. 8/10

And that’s it. Thanks for reading this far. Have a great week. :)
